Close Friends

Inspired by William Grant Still's Lyric Quartette, Close Friends is a photographic interpretation of friendship told in three movements.

Drawing from Still's musical portraits—"The Sentimental One," "The Quiet One," and "The Jovial One"—the series explores how personality reveals itself through small gestures, shared histories, and presence. Each photograph responds to the emotional character of a movement, translating sound into image and mood into form.

Featured in the project titled “Meet in the Middle”, an exhibition full of photographic interpretations of classical music created by Black midwestern composers.
