MIDTONES Volume 2 : Submission
Theme: Shelter
Using existing or new imagery, focused on the idea of refuge and protection. This theme explores what it means to create a safe space—whether physical, emotional, communal, or other methods you find. The theme ties to the Midwest’s (or perception of...) role as a welcoming, dependable region and the universal need for security in times of change. Your approach can be literal or thematic, however you interpret it is fair game. What we value is point of view.
Guidelines
Submit a PDF or 5-10 photographic works. We encourage you to submit a series of images from a singular body of work.
Artists MUST either be based in, or have a meaningful connection to the Midwest or Rust Belt. However, the artwork you submit does not need to have been created in that region.
UPDATED Submission Deadline: September 12, 2025
Updates will vary, but expect to be notified within 2 weeks of your submission.
